Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a series of appointments to various state boards and commissions. Scott Wyckoff, from Sacramento, has been named Executive Officer of the Board of Parole Hearings. Wyckoff has served as Deputy Legal Affairs Secretary in the Governor's Office since 2022 and held previous roles at the California State Transportation Agency and the California Department of Business Oversight. This position requires Senate confirmation, with a compensation of $224,436.
Robert "Bob" Jonsen, Sheriff of Santa Clara County since 2022, has been appointed to the State 911 Advisory Board. Jonsen previously served as Chief of Police in Palo Alto and Menlo Park. Yesenia Sanchez, Sheriff-Coroner at the Alameda County Sheriff's Office since 2023, will also join the State 911 Advisory Board. Sanchez has been with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office since 1997.
Garrett Huff, Deputy Fire Chief at Santa Barbara County Fire Department since 2024, is another appointee to the State 911 Advisory Board. Huff's career in firefighting spans several roles within Santa Barbara County Fire Department and other agencies.
Jacob Johnson from Bakersfield has been appointed to the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Johnson is an officer with the California Highway Patrol and serves as President of the California Association of Highway Patrolmen.
Rick Braziel from Truckee has been reappointed to this commission where he has served since 2015. He currently holds positions as Associate Vice Chancellor for Campus Safety at UCLA and President of Rick Braziel Consulting, Inc., among others.
Shannan Moon from Grass Valley is also reappointed to this commission. She is Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator for Nevada County Sheriff's Office and has worked there in various capacities since 1990.
All appointees are Democrats except for Braziel and Moon who are registered without party preference.
