A modern mansion has been listed for sale at $8.5 million on the site of the infamous "Mansion Murders" in Washington, D.C., nine years after a brutal quadruple homicide occurred there. The original home was demolished in 2017, two years after its owner, Savvas Savopoulos, his wife Amy, their son Philip, and housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa were killed.
The newly constructed six-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom property is a departure from the traditional brick mansion that previously occupied the affluent street. The property boasts modern amenities such as a heated saltwater pool and a full spa bathroom in the master suite.
Daron Wint was convicted of all four murders in 2018 and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. Judge Juliet McKenna described the crimes as "heinous, atrocious and cruel," while U.S. Attorney Jessie K. Liu stated that Wint's sentence held him accountable for "kidnapping, torturing and ultimately murdering four innocent people."
After the murders, the property was initially listed for $3.5 million with its address changed from 3201 Woodland Drive NW to 2802 32nd St. NW to dissociate it from the crime. It sold for $3 million before being demolished by new owners who planned to build a new mansion.
Designed by architect Jeffery Silberstein, the contemporary residence completed in 2024 sits on over a third of an acre in Massachusetts Avenue Heights neighborhood. It includes features like two home offices and a pool lounge.
The current owners remain anonymous, having purchased the property under an LLC named after its original address. The listing now uses a different address—2800 32nd NW St.—though records confirm it is indeed the same location as the previous "Mansion Murders" site.
