Quitman church fire under investigation; public's help sought

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King has announced an investigation into a fire that occurred on West Crawford Street in Quitman. The incident took place at the Modern-Day Holiness Church in Brooks County.

"At approximately 6:24 a.m. on October 23, 2024, a fire was reported at Modern-Day Holiness Church in Brooks County," stated Commissioner King. "With the assistance of an Ignitable Liquid K-9 Detection unit, investigators have found evidence of possible accelerants at the scene. I urge anyone with information to call the 24/7 Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804."

Authorities are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for arson. Callers can remain anonymous.

The Office is collaborating with the Quitman Police and Fire Departments as part of this investigation.
