Irving Tissue expands Macon facility with $600 million investment

Governor Brian P. Kemp announced that Irving Tissue plans to expand its Macon facility with an investment of nearly $600 million, creating at least 100 new jobs. The announcement was made during the company's fifth anniversary celebration in Macon, attended by Company President Robert K. Irving, Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller, and other state and local leaders.

“Since choosing Macon in 2017, Irving Tissue has invested around $1.5 billion into the community and created 400 well-paying jobs, with another 100 jobs on the way,” said Governor Brian Kemp. He emphasized the importance of continued investment from valued employers like Irving Tissue in Georgia.

Irving Tissue's current facility is located at Sofkee Industrial Park and employs over 400 people. It produces high-quality household paper products such as soft bath tissue and strong absorbent paper towels.

Robert Irving expressed gratitude towards Georgia's support for economic growth: “We greatly appreciate the State of Georgia’s commitment to economic prosperity, jobs, and growth... We are proud to continue to invest in the State of Georgia.” He credited their expansion success to a skilled workforce and ongoing support from employees, customers, and suppliers.

The expansion includes a third ThruAir Dry paper-making machine, additional converting lines, and a fully automated warehouse. This will increase their annual ThruAir Dry capacity by 75,000 tonnes or about 15 million cases.

Mayor Lester Miller praised Irving Tissue's commitment: “They have a deep commitment to our community... This growth means more success stories for Macon.”

Chairman Robby Fountain of the MBCIA acknowledged Irving Tissue's impact since arriving in Macon: “This expansion is a testament to their hard work and dedication.”

Regional Project Manager Candice Scott from GDEcD partnered on this project alongside MBCIA. Commissioner Pat Wilson highlighted how each expansion strengthens partnerships: “Each expansion builds on the partnerships...
