Disney enthusiasts will soon have the opportunity to tour three homes within Disney's first residential Storyliving community, Cotino, located in Rancho Mirage, CA. This community is near Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley. Another Storyliving community is planned near Raleigh, NC, with additional locations being scouted.
Cotino offers a range of housing options from single-family homes and condos to larger villa estates. Some properties are specifically for residents aged 55 and older. Prices will range from $1 million to over $2 million. The three model homes will be available for public tours starting in November.
Disney aims to attract fans to this desert location, approximately two hours from Disneyland in Anaheim, where Walt Disney once resided. These neighborhoods "are intended to inspire residents to foster new friendships, pursue their interests and write the next exciting chapter in their lives—all while enjoying the attention to detail, unique amenities and special touches that are Disney hallmarks," according to a 2022 release when Storyliving by Disney was first announced.
The Cotino community includes nearly 2,000 homes on a 618-acre site featuring a 24-acre lagoon with water sports such as kayaking and paddleboarding. There will also be a mixed-use district offering dining, shopping, entertainment venues, and a beachfront hotel. Disney cast members will manage the community association.
Various levels of access are available depending on membership choices. For example, Artisan Club members can access the clubhouse for fitness classes and pickleball lessons and enjoy a private beach along with curated Disney programming like wellness seminars and live performances.
Shea Homes built the three model houses: Melodia, Moderne, and Atelier II.
Melodia features modern lines with a black-and-white palette inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.” It includes three bedrooms and 3.5 baths on one level.
Moderne offers earth tones inspired by Disneyland’s Adventureland area. It has two bedrooms and four bathrooms across two stories in Longtable Park for adults aged 55+.
Atelier II exhibits midcentury modern design both inside and out with bright shades reminiscent of Disneyland posters from the 1960s. This one-level home includes two bedrooms and 2.5 baths.
