The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced today that the Hollister office, located at 80 N. Sally Street, will temporarily expand its operating hours to include Fridays. This adjustment will complement the regular Tuesday and Thursday schedule starting August 23 and continue until October 11, 2024. The change is intended to accommodate customers while the Gilroy field office undergoes renovations. The Gilroy office is scheduled to reopen on Monday, October 14.

“We want to keep DMV services accessible to residents during the renovation period at our Gilroy office,” said DMV Director Steve Gordon. “Adding Friday hours at the Hollister office helps us meet the needs of our customers in the surrounding communities.”

Hollister DMV Office Hours (August 23 – October 11, 2024):

- Tuesdays: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

- Thursdays: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

- Fridays: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The DMV has emphasized its efforts to offer additional digital services, noting that most tasks do not require an office visit. Simple self-service transactions are no longer available in offices, and customers are encouraged to use online services and other service channels for tasks such as driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. The Service Advisor tool on the DMV website can guide customers on how to complete various DMV tasks.

To sign up for paperless vehicle registration and driver’s license renewal notices, customers need to sign in or create a secure online account at dmv.ca.gov and opt in.
