About 62.7 percent of property-insurance and business-related claims resulting from Hurricane Dorian damage in Florida last year have been closed, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (FOIR) reports.

The August-September 2019 hurricane has resulted in closed claims totaling 3,616, according to data that was collected through Oct. 4, 2019. A total of 1,204 personal residence claims remain open, FOIR said.

FOIR compiled the numbers from claims data filed by insurers. The claims have not been audited or reviewed independently, according to the insurance agency.

The insurers began submitting the data on Sept. 9, 2019, according to FOIR.
