Socialite Candice Miller is auctioning items from her $15.49 million Hamptons mansion, following the death of her husband, Brandon Miller, who died by suicide amid a $34 million debt crisis. Eighteen months after his passing in July 2023, Candice has listed their home for sale to help repay the debts.
The New York Times reported that the property was sold despite still being under Brandon's name in records. The mansion was mortgaged five times, totaling approximately $12 million. Brandon was found unresponsive in his car at their Water Mill home on June 30, and he passed away on July 3 at a Southampton hospital.
Candice put the house on the market for $15.45 million in August 2024, and it reportedly sold by December. Items from the property are now up for auction online, including furniture and decor designed by Julie Hillman. The auction site describes this as an opportunity to own high-end pieces from a well-designed Hamptons home.
Brandon's financial troubles were significant; he had taken multiple loans against the property and sought additional funds shortly before his death. A lender mentioned giving him $208,000 just weeks prior to his passing, which was later repaid with proceeds from the home's sale.
Candice has moved to Miami with her children into a $10 million apartment owned by Diane von Furstenberg’s son. She is working through legal processes to manage her late husband's debts while trying to move forward after closing her lifestyle blog "Mama + Tata."
Documents show that Brandon had several outstanding loans from various lenders and companies like Titan Capital and BMO Bank. He also owed substantial amounts to American Express and Funding Club.
Despite assurances about their finances being stable before Candice left for Italy with their children, Brandon's attempt at suicide resulted in his tragic death.
