Fox News host Bret Baier is reportedly selling his $29 million Washington, DC mansion to Howard Lutnick, President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for commerce secretary. The French chateau-style estate, originally listed at $31.9 million in October 2023 by Baier and his wife Amy, was reduced to $28,995,000 earlier this year.
Realtor.com shows the home as pending sale, with the Wall Street Journal identifying Lutnick as the buyer. It's unclear if the final asking price was met. Lutnick has been CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald since 1991 and was nominated by Trump in November. Local real estate agents suggest this sale could set a new record for the DC area.
The current record is held by a Georgetown property sold for $24 million in 2007. Baier's home features five bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms over 16,250 square feet. It includes floor-to-ceiling windows, a chef's kitchen with high-end appliances, and a principal bedroom with a private limestone terrace.
Built on a 1.47-acre plot purchased for $5.4 million in 2018, the home cost an additional $25 million to construct. Its location near the White House might appeal to Lutnick if confirmed as commerce secretary.
The property also includes unique amenities such as a basketball court, spa, fitness center, movie theater, and indoor golf simulator on its lower level. Outdoor features include a heated swimming pool and private putting green.
Baier's future residence remains unknown after selling several properties recently: another DC home sold for $6.5 million in 2021 and a Palm Beach mansion sold for $13.49 million earlier this year.
