Steve Gordon Director | State of California DMV
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced the reopening of its Santa Clara office, located at 3665 Flora Vista Ave. The office will resume operations at 8 a.m. on Monday, November 18, following a closure that began on November 1. This closure was necessary to conduct an inspection of the HVAC system and roof as part of the DMV's initiative to upgrade aging infrastructure.
In addition to announcing the reopening, the DMV is urging customers to utilize online services for their transactions whenever possible. The department has implemented several digital service options to reduce the need for in-person visits. Most tasks can now be completed online, including certain driver's license and vehicle registration renewals.
Customers are encouraged to use the Service Advisor tool available on the DMV website to explore their transaction options. For those interested in receiving paperless renewal notices for vehicle registration and driver's licenses, signing up requires creating or logging into a secure account at dmv.ca.gov and opting in for this service.
