The Colorado home where Chris Watts murdered his pregnant wife has been sold for $650,000, six years after the crime. Located in Frederick, the property was initially listed for $775,000 in April but saw its price reduced multiple times before the sale on October 17.
Built in 2013, the house's listing avoided mentioning its grim past and described it as “beautiful.” The residence gained notoriety when Watts strangled his wife Shanann on August 13, 2018. He later suffocated their daughters Bella and Celeste and concealed their bodies at a nearby oil storage facility.
This is the second time the property has changed hands since Watts was convicted and sentenced to five life terms for the murders. It previously sold for $600,000 in 2022 to a buyer who held it briefly before relisting it this year.
Real estate appraiser Randall Bell commented on the challenges of selling homes with such histories: “It’s a gruesome crime, and it’s not where a lot of people want to go home and relax with that kind of history.” The home's association with a Netflix documentary further complicated its sale. Potential buyers were advised against taking photos or videos inside during viewings.
