The city of Fargo, North Dakota, has gained attention by topping the list of America's Next Boomtowns, according to 24/7 Wall St. This ranking is based on population trends analyzed by Nature.com. The report predicts a significant increase in Fargo's population, projecting a rise from 125,990 in 2020 to 225,278 by 2050 and further growth to 428,966 by the year 2100.

Local residents are optimistic about this anticipated growth. Jayci Altenbernd, digital marketing manager at Visit Fargo-Moorhead, stated: “Fargo is the state’s largest city, and it only continues to grow as more and more young people and families choose to call Fargo home.”

Affordability plays a crucial role in attracting new residents to Fargo. North Dakota was ranked sixth among the Top 10 States With the Lowest Cost of Living in a recent analysis by Realtor.com®. Currently, there are 964 homes for sale in Fargo with a median list price of $389,900 as of August—$36,000 below the national median.

Fargo's job market also contributes to its appeal. The city hosts a growing tech hub featuring a Microsoft campus and an Amazon distribution center. Additionally, the Fargo Innovation Hub supports startups and entrepreneurship.

Beyond Fargo, several other cities have been identified as future boomtowns. Notably, five Texas cities made it into the top ten rankings:

- Denton: Population forecasted to increase from 139,869 in 2020 to 424,821 by 2100.

- College Station: Expected growth from 120,511 in 2020 to 337,237 by century's end.

- Sugar Land: Projected rise from 111,026 in 2020 to over three times that number.

- Frisco: Anticipated expansion from its current population of around two hundred thousand.

- Round Rock: Set for significant demographic changes over the coming decades.

Other cities on this list include Fort Collins in Colorado; Murfreesboro in Tennessee; Lincoln in Nebraska; and Renton in Washington—all expected to see substantial population increases by the year 2100.
