Governor Newsom signs multiple legislative bills into law

Governor Gavin Newsom has signed several bills into law, as announced today. The new legislation covers a wide range of issues, from public records and agricultural pesticide use to affordable housing and disorderly conduct.

Among the notable bills signed are AB 1785 by Assemblymember Blanca Pacheco (D-Downey) concerning the California Public Records Act, AB 1864 by Assemblymember Damon Connolly (D-San Rafael) on pesticides near schools, and AB 1868 by Assemblymember Laura Friedman (D-Glendale) related to property taxation for affordable housing.

Other significant bills include AB 1874 by Assemblymember Kate Sanchez (R-Rancho Santa Margarita) addressing crimes related to disorderly conduct, AB 1904 by Assemblymember Christopher Ward (D-San Diego) focusing on transit bus right-of-way signs, and AB 1921 by Assemblymember Diane Papan (D-San Mateo), which defines renewable electrical generation facilities.

Governor Newsom also signed multiple bills authored by Assemblymember Christopher Ward (D-San Diego), including AB 1979 for doxing victims' recourse, AB 2005 regarding faculty and employee housing at California State University, and AB 2353 dealing with property taxation welfare exemptions.

Additionally, Governor Newsom vetoed several bills. These include AB 99 by Assemblymember Damon Connolly (D-San Rafael) related to integrated pest management on state roads and highways, and SB 26 by Senator Thomas Umberg (D-Santa Ana), which proposed the CARE Scholarship Program for mental health professions.
